Farm fun

This weekend we attended a lovely family farm day hosted by our friends Mike, Ara and Wren. It was a gorgeous day that felt like fall, there were many little kiddos running wild on the farm, and Olive was more than pleased to have free reign to run with her buddies Luna and Wren.

There were chickens to feed (they like fresh grapes from the arbor above):

A very cool tree with the middle cut out:

A hammock built for a gang of girls:

Or just one giggling girl at a time:

Fields for chatting in:

A hayride (with turns for each kiddo to help drive):

Honeycrisp apples fresh from the tree:

A dog named Honey who loved running in circles almost as much as the girls loved shouting, "Honey!" and throwing sticks for her to fetch:

Very friendly horses who loved to eat grass:

Check out the booty crack on that little girl:

A chance to roast marshmallows:

And eat s'mores, of course:

It was a lovely, lovely, day. Great people, great food, great place, great time.

Cousins

Olive and her big cousin:

Olive with her little cousin:

Good lookin' group of cousins, huh?

Irene, Olive and Oscar. These three kiddos will have many adventures together. They are so lucky to live in the same city so they can grow up hanging out and playing.

Pool

We decided to check out the Highland Pool last week. It's close to home and was redone recently with a big children's area. It was really fun! Olive was a big fan of the 2 foot depth. She even went down the slide (once...and mostly on accident as she tried to get off, but still!).

Here she is posing by the slide:

Faces

Olive kept asking me to draw pictures of her on her magna doodle, so then I suggested she draw some pictures of people, too. She would ask me to draw a "big O" for a head and then she'd add the features.

One of the early faces, I like the eyes on this one, they look happy:

And a really good one! Love the hair:

Movie night

Olive had never watched a movie and Sam kept wanting to have "movie night" with her. This seemed to involve popcorn and blankets in his mind, so we went for it. We ordered pizza, got a movie (Despereaux), and had chocolate milk and popcorn, too. Olive was interested but had lots of questions about the movie. Sam fell asleep and Olive lost interest with about a half hour left, so we turned it off then. It was a good start, though! She loved the popcorn, that was the highlight for her, I think.

Here she is in the recliner, watching and eating:

Next seating arrangement; on the couch with Sam:

And the final seating arrangement, laying down with 3 blankets on (this is what led to Sam's sleepiness):

Lake time

Another trip up north last weekend, and lots of adventures with Grandma and Grandpa.
